Bryan Jeeves CMG OBE
Chairman, Jeeves Group of Companies
Bryan Jeeves, born 1940 in Croydon, England, was employed at first in London, thereafter in Germany and France, and came to Liechtenstein during 1962.
He is the Chairman of the Jeeves Group of Companies, with own office premises at Bahnhofstrasse 7, Schaan, Liechtenstein and 112 Bonadie Street, Kingstown, St. Vincent & the Grenadines. He is also Chairman of the Group companies e.g. Lexadmin Trust. Reg., Vaduz, a duly licensed Liechtenstein Trust company, President of the St. Vincent Trust companies, a director of the Selbourne Trust Company Limited, a duly licensed registered agent and trustee in St. Lucia, as well as being on the board of many other domestic and foreign companies. The Group target of offering a comprehensive multi-disciplinary service resulted in an increase in the number of staff and the requirement for larger premises. The Group is in its own office building at Schaan, Liechtenstein, since the latter part of 2001.
The family tradition of transport (Foster Biggs & Sons, est. 1875) is continued via the Liechtenstein company SLT Speditions Establishment. This company also has offices at Schaanwald (on the Austrian-Liechtenstein border), Wolfurt, Austria and its head office in Schaan, Liechtenstein, is active in the field of freight forwarding, customs services, international freight haulage and courier services. The firm has 30 long distance trucks on the road.
During February 1993, the St. Vincent Trust Service was acquired. The rapid increase in the volume of business introduced by the Jeeves Group resulted in the new legislation in December 1996. Further new legislation in 2000 and 2001, has been effected and is continuing to meet the challenges in the financial services sector. The Group has one further duly licensed trust company based at the Kingstown offices, namely the St. Vincent Trust Company Limited. All operate internationally.
Bryan Jeeves was for many years an active jazz musician (clarinet and saxophone) and this interest has led to participations in various firms in the music field (management, audio and visual production, publishing etc.).
Since 1966 he has been active as interpreter and translator in Liechtenstein to the Princely House, the Princely Government, the judiciary and private companies. For over 20 years he has served on the bench of the Princely Court of Justice as a duly sworn translator/interpreter for litigation held in the English language.
He is the principal of the group translation firm in Vaduz, officially admitted by the Princely Liechtenstein Government since 1979. In spring of 1992 he published the first ever-English version of Liechtenstein Company Law, now also available on CD ROM. A further publication of the translation of new laws concerning the financial services sector was published in 1998.
He has been a member of the British Swiss Chamber of Commerce since 1964, was the longest serving Councillor and was Vice President from 1988 to 1991 and President of this Chamber from 1991 to 1993. In July 2004 at the BSCC AGM at Geneva, he received the rare award of Honorary Life Membership of the BSCC in recognition of exceptional support and commitment.
During 1992 he was appointed as Honorary British Consul to the Principality of Liechtenstein, which was the first time the UK had a resident representative in Liechtenstein. He retired as Consul during 2001.
In HM Queen Elizabeth II's Birthday Honours List of June 1993, he was appointed as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in acknowledgement of services rendered.
He was elected during 1994 as Vice President of COBCOE, which is the Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Continental Europe, representing British Chambers in Europe. He was president from 1995 - 2001, in which time COBCOE expanded to cover 22 countries. He was awarded the title of honorary Chairman in recognition of his successful presidency.
During 2003 he organized and made possible the book project "Modern Liechtenstein", which was the result of 3 years of research by the author David Beattie CMG, the former British Ambassador to Liechtenstein and Switzerland. This book is the first serious academic, well-researched book on Liechtenstein in the last sixty years and the book has received wide acclaim.
At a recent public event the Liechtenstein Foreign Minister, Dr. Ernst Walch said, "Bryan Jeeves is the personification of Britain in Liechtenstein". He continues to support the UK diplomatically and politically in Liechtenstein. The latest achievement is the establishment of an Anglo-Liechtenstein Parliamentary Group at the Houses of Parliament at Westminster together with the BSCC.
In HM Queen Elizabeth II's New Years Honours List 2007, Bryan Jeeves was appointed Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St George, (CMG), in recognition of his services rendered to the financial services sector in St. Vincent & the Grenadines. The award of the CMG is used to honour individuals who have rendered important services in relation to Commonwealth or foreign nations.
On the 6 February 2007, HSH The Sovereign Prince of Liechtenstein, Hans Adam II, bestowed on Bryan Jeeves CMG OBE the Commander's Cross of the Princely Liechtenstein Order of Merit for services rendered to Liechtenstein.
Through his hobby tennis, he became President of the Liechtenstein Junior Tennis Committee. After successfully building up junior competitive tennis over a period of 10 years, he was elected during 1991 as first honorary member of the Liechtenstein Tennis Association. He has been President of the British Club in Liechtenstein since its formation in 1970, as well as founding member and Chairman of the Conference of Foreign Associations in Liechtenstein (KAFL). As a founder member of the Kiwanis Club Liechtenstein he was their President 1979/80. As successor to Lord Rippon, he is Chairman of the British Alpbach Committee, has been a Fellow of the Institute of Directors since 1968 and is a member of the Carlton Club, London. Married since 1965 to Hanni Jeeves-Ritter from Liechtenstein, he has one son, and resides in Schaan, Liechtenstein.
